How does one approach the loss of a friend and fellow cyclist to cancer? Thomas was 29 years old. All he really wanted to do was have what most of us have, a healthy life so he could ride his bike. Thomas wanted to climb hills. He was at the early climbs, there to help, still wanted to be a part of something he really loved. How incredible sad and wrong for someone of his age to loose his battle.
At the Low-Key award event, we collected thoughts on livestrong cards, bound them together and Cara delivered them to Thomas. He seemed to really enjoy our well wishes.
There is always something that we can do to help. Even if people say that there is no need, send a card, share your love, be there. People can pass very, very, quickly.
Update about memorial
There’s going to be a memorial on Jan 16th on top of Tantalus mountain in Honolulu. Tantalus is sort of the local “Old La Honda”. Thomas’ mom is asking for donations to American Cancer Society in Thomas’ name.
